everyone a little bit of a warriors hangover. but jaclyn has been tracking a big accident on 880. >> there were a lot of crowds on 880 last night and there are crowds developing on 880 this morning. we're tracking a "sig alert" in effect southbound 880. this is near 23rd. one lane blocked. but we're told that the fuel from the crash is leaking on the road there. they are waiting for crews to bring out absorbent so it could be a while before it's cleared. it could definitely impact your ride if you are making your way through oakland in the southbound direction. right now traffic backed up to oak street. if you are heading in that southbound direction, it's in the yellow almost 20 minutes as you make your way on down towards 238. just south of there though, things are still looking good in both directions. that's near 66. a "sig alert" is in effect westbound 205 through tracy. two lanes closed since last night before midnight. this is backing things up into

waiting to send off this guy. the finals mvp kevin durant. kpix 5's jackie ward is live outside of oracle arena with more on the exciting win. jackie. >> reporter: yeah. confetti even made it out to the parking lot. celebrations going on -- no, not really. just kidding. how are we doing out there, "dub nation"? exhausted but thrilled? me, too. what a game last night. you can't help but be ecstatic last night, winning at home, beating lebron james and the cavs for the second time in three years. warriors fans were on their feet for all four quarters soaking up the action. fans were disappointed after we lost the chance to go undefeated in the play-offs and not sweep them in game 4 but that's not what was on fans' minds last night. >> we won, that's all that matters. >> you have to come harder when you mess with the warriors even
though they made a valiant effort. >> reporter: thousands of people in the streets of oakland to celebrate. some took part in a sideshow for an hour at 100th and international others lighting things on fire. the bonfires started in the middle of 87th and international. not far from that sideshow where i just told you. so we don't know how many arrests were made in total last night. it's too early to tell. but i have seen online lots of videos of people celebrating in a nondestructive way just dancing in the streets and having a good time. this is just the beginning of a really fun week. from oracle arena, jackie ward, kpix 5. certainly is. we're all looking forward to the big parade on thursday. meantime the warriors treated at least photos of all the players posing with their trophies. including mvp durant hanging with his mom. wasn't she adorable last night? check her smile. the nba championship gear is already on sale this morning. we're looking live right now

is photo of the scene. it happened around 11:30 last night on international boulevard. the officer was taken to a hospital and is expected to be okay. the driver was arrested. now to politics. this afternoon, attorney general jeff sessions testifies before the senate intelligence committee in an open hearing. he recused himself from ongoing probes into russia. he will probably face questions about the investigation. last week, fired fbi director james comey told senators his recusal may have happened for reasons he could not discuss in an open setting. >> we also were aware of facts that i can't discuss in an open setting. >> the attorney general may also be asked if there are tapes of the president's private conversations with comey. the secret service revealed yesterday it is unaware of any recording devices inside the oval office. meantime a friend of the president says president trump is considering firing robert mueller who is leading the special investigation into
alleged russian interference in the 2016 election. a senior white house official didn't deny it but insists that that friend did not speak to the president. this morning, president trump tweeted out, quote, the fake news media has never been so wrong or so dirty. purposely incorrect stories and phony sources to meet their agenda of hate. sat! . sad!! we have live coverage of the testimony of attorney general jeff sessions, you can see it here on kpix 5 at 11:30 a.m. former mexican president vicente fox look in oakland today. kpix 5's jessica flores is live at the oakland marriott citycenter with more. jessica. >> reporter: michelle, that's right. he will be giving the keynote address here later this morning. he will be talking about marijuana and why he believes it should be legal not only in mexico but also in the united states. now, the former president of mexico will talk about social injustices and also claims that the war on drugs in part is to
blame for drug cartel violence in his country. he has been hugely critical of the trump administration. president trump has promised to build a wall between the u.s. and mexico and make mexico pay for it and the fox says that's not going to happen. it's mr. trump's plan to fight illegal immigration and drug trafficking. fox says it's an empty promise. >> it's stupid. it doesn't work. there's already a wall. it's at least covering 70% of the borderline. a wall, big wall. the remaining 30% is places that there's no people there. why is he going to waste taxpayers' money? >> reporter: the former mexican president and the trump administration could continue to clash over marijuana policy because according to a letter obtained by the "washington post," attorney general jeff sessions wants to prosecute
medical marijuana providers. that news is coming just as fox will be discussing weed today and we expect him to weigh in on washington politics and also on president trump. his address is here in downtown oakland at 10 a.m. live in oakland, i'm jessica flores, kpix 5. he has had some fiery words for president trump. should be interesting. climate change taking center stage at the state capital today. governor jerry brown will welcome fiji's prime minister this afternoon. a ceremony will be held as the country joins the under 2 coalition. that's aimed at limiting greenhouse gases. and last week governor brown welcomed germany in the coalition although state agreements with foreign governments are not legally binding. bill cosby's fate is now in the hands of a jury which is determining whether or not he is guilty of sexual assault. the panel began deliberations late yesterday after hearing closing arguments. cosby is accused of drugging and sexual assaulting former temple university employee

good morning, everybody. welcome back to "kpix 5 morning news" located in unincorporated san mateo county. that is it right there. that's sfo. 13 miles just south of downtown san francisco. near millbrae and and san bruno. we have a sunny start to our day. in fact, right now sfo going up to a high of 70. we have the full forecast. it's traffic and weather in less than 4 minutes. in san jose, new documents suggest that multiple city workers tried to sound the alarm about the potential for significant flooding from coyote creek in february. according to the "san jose mercury news" these documents suggest that at least 7 city employees reported flooding in the hardest hit neighborhoods nearly a day before the city started evacuating people. in response, mayor sam liccardo admits that the city was, quote, relying too heavily on data from the water district.
marin county is putting underaged pot use to a vote today. it's adding that to the county's social host ordinance which originally targeted under age drinking. supervisors wanted to specifically call out marijuana use in the amended ordinance. if approved, the amendment also allows citations to be issued to people responsible for gatherings where there is underaged drinking and pot use. a full hearing is set to begin at 10 a.m. more and more drivers are cheating the system and crossing bay area bridges without paying a toll. it's costing nearly $13 million a year in tolls. now a new law is going to require dealerships to have license plates on all old and new cars before they leave the lot. that is going to take effect in 2019. in the meantime, the dmv is working with dealerships on a system that will allow them to report the car's sale and then issue a temporary plate on the spot. yup. so you can't cheat the system for much longer.
>> i am no longer a cheater. >> no. when i bought my car, no license plate or holder or anything so i went to the website and it was useful and effective. >> what's not so fast is some of the traffic out there in the bay area? >> a lot of places are slow now. we have problems that you need to know about if you are getting ready to head out the door. we have a couple of sig alerts in effect. first we begin with the richmond/san rafael bridge. you will need the sunglasses. very bright. we are tracking delays -- that's the bay bridge toll plaza. if you can see it, traffic backed up well into the foot of the maze to the eastshore freeway as well as highway -- excuse me, 580 and 24. that's getting slow, as well. san mateo bridge reports of a crash in both directions eastbound 92 right at the toll plaza. westbound direction to the high- rise. we are tracking delays along 880 a crash near 92.
let's check the forecast with roberta. you know, i just want to keep this whole warriors thing going and going and going because i ran into these two people at the game last night. this gentleman came all the way out from cleveland to enjoy the game. then there's almighty wanda thompson big time golden state warriors fan and they were talking up the game and what they had expectation-wise. i was so happy to see that. it was a love fest at oracle yesterday. hi. this is right now. live weather camera looking in the direction of oakland from san francisco. we can see the port of oakland, we have clear skies, visibility is unlimited. and right now we have the sun making an appearance at mount vaca. temperatures 46 to 54 degrees out the door. the big difference this morning is the lack of a wind. calm winds right now san francisco. three sfo. 7 san ramon. notice these winds are variable. they will become a little more consistent and persistent later today northwesterly 10 to 20. just a swath of some cloudiness layers of low clouds from the san mateo coastline all the way into santa cruz.

thursday we climb into the 90s away from the bay. friday i expect as the temperature goes up, air quality goes down, we're talking about the potential of "spare the air" day consecutively each day into monday. that is a strong possibility. all the way to father's day, 60s, 70s, 80s to 97 degrees at the delta. enjoy your tuesday. all right. roberta, we will. thank you. now in our tech report yahoo's $4.5 billion sale to verizon is set to close today. the telecom giant plans to merge yahoo and aol. the source told the "mercury news" after the deal closes, verizon is going to lay off 2100 people. that's 15% of the staff at yahoo and aol. this morning there's another major shake-up at uber. the san francisco-based company confirms that emil michael the senior vice president of business is out. he has been a key executive there since 2013 and a close confidante of the ceo travis kalanick. as we have reported, uber's
board is also discussing a possible leave of absence for kalanick. uber says kalanick proposed the idea of taking some time off. google just launched project sunroof that lets you look at the existing solar installations in the u.s. the company says it combines machine learning with google maps and google earth imagery to determine which houses have solar packages. so far, the tech giant has identified 700,000 installations in the country with solar packages. and i'm dennis o'donnell. coming up, poison the band playing tonight at oracle arena but last night, they had the champagne flowing in the warriors locker room highlights and reaction coming up.
good morning, everybody, in championship city. you know, the bay area hasn't had a team win a championship in its home venue since 1974 when the a's beat the dodgers in the world series. that streak ended at oracle last night. the cast of "hamilton" sang the national anthem. the only ticket that's hotter than the warriors right now in the bay area. [ laughter ] >> reporter: cleveland started strong after a warriors turnover. lebron going the other way dunks it over kevin durant. cavs up by 8. but the warriors flipped the switch in the second thanks to andre iguodala's steal. jam at the other end. the roof came down! the cavs lead evaporated. curry with 34 points, warriors up 5. he still in the second, irving knocks down the three but the cavs don't get back and curry his kd on the long pass with the easy bucket. they led by as many as 17 in the half. the cavs didn't fold. the warriors lead down to 5 in the 3rd quarter. lebron had 41 points. but iguodala saved his best play-off game for last night.
curry flings a pretty pass to iggy for the jam. 10-point warriors lead in the fourth. the cavs couldn't make any kind of run because durant was 14-20 from the field. he had 39 points. he averaged 35 in the series. he was named the mvp of the finals. the warriors win their third nba title and second in the last three years. 129-120 is the final. >> obviously, we were heartbroken last year but this year was our turn. and we're obviously quite happy, if you couldn't tell by my wet hair. >> people think it was easy but it was far from easy. we worked hard for it. so much effort from everybody. >> reporter: i shake my head when i think about how spoiled the bay area is in this decade alone, the giants have won three world series titles and now the warriors have their second nba title and you wonder who is next. perhaps the oakland raiders? reporting from oracle, dennis o'donnell, kpix 5.

of what we can expect. weijia. >> reporter: good morning, michelle and anne. sessions will be answering those tough questions during a public hearing. the justice department said he requested it not happen behind closed doors because he believes it's important for the american people who hear the truth from him. >> to be here and celebrate this group. >> reporter: attorney general sessions sessions monday ahead of his testimony before the senate intelligence committee today. he is expected to face questions about his contacts with russia's ambassador to the u.s. during the presidential campaign. sessions has recused himself from all ongoing investigations into russia. >> i should not be involved in investigating a campaign i had a role in. >> reporter: he may have to answer what role if any he played in the firing of former fbi director james comey. comey during his testimony to the senate hinted there might be more to sessions' recusal. >> we also were aware of fact that i can't discuss in an open
setting. >> reporter: the attorney general may also be asked if there are tapes of the president's private conversations with comfortable as mr. trump suggested last month. the secret service revealed yesterday it is unaware of any recording devices inside the oval office. the last time the attorney general testified here on capitol hill, there was some trouble afterwards because he said under oath that he had never met with the russians which we know now is a lie and some lawmakers have already asked the fbi to investigate whether sessions committed perjury. anne, michele? > weijia, we're hearing there could be another shake-up in the russia investigation. >> reporter: that's according to a very close president trump confidante christopher ruddy who said during a televised interview that the president is considering firing the special counsel robert mueller who is leading the investigation into alleged russian interference.

miles per hour. spot on as far as the numbers are concerned. 84 in brentwood. full forecast at 48 after the hour. traffic is building on 880. we have that accident a "sig alert" remains in effect. fuel leaking from the truck that was involved in the crash along 880. has trafficked backed up from 23rd to oak street at this point. we are tracking a 12-minute ride. south along 880, more delays. you will be tapping those brakes heading into hayward. we have an accident along eastbound 92 by hesperian, debris scattered all over the road. speeds are slowing down to about 10 miles per hour also westbound 92 as you approach the toll plaza there a crash blocking one lane. so we have delays across the bridge as well 35-minute ride out of hayward into foster
city. and bay bridge, you guessed it, big backups. well beyond the foot of the maze. just into the newsroom, kevin durant is on the cover of sports illustrated. it says, nba champs dawn of durant in the cover story, cool, very cool, there- interviews with those close to him. kd will apparently share how a text from green led him to becoming the nba finals mvp. the issue hits newsstands on thursday. fans of course were celebrating the big win all night. kpix 5's jackie ward is live at oracle arena where they were jumping and shouting and happy to discuss -- i don't know if we could say discuss, maybe yell? during the "dubs" win. >> reporter: yeah. i don't think anyone was conversing last night. i'm pretty sure everyone was jumping out of their skin after last night's win. oh, my gosh. what an amazing game. great to win at home. this place oracle arena still bustling this morning. crews are working and have been

president's executive order. the president wants to ban visitors temporarily from six muslim-majority nations but in a unanimous vote the three men said it violated immigration law by discriminating against people based on nationality. they are also appealing a similar rule in virginia to the u.s. supreme court. president trump said: former mexican president vicente fox is in the bay area today. he is expected at the cannabis business summit in oakland. kpix 5's jessica flores is live in downtown oakland with the details. jessica. >> reporter: michelle, he will be giving the keynote address at the marriott downtown at the cannabis business summit. he is expected to talk about how he believes marijuana should be legalized both in mexico and the united states. he will be talking about social

the company is indeed working on self-driving car technology. this is rumored for years. project titan. there were numerous reports last year that apple changed its strategy with self-driving technology. not wanting to build an actual car, but focusing on the technology itself. cook was pretty tight-lipped about the rest of the details and is vague about what apple is working on but says the technology is core to the company. apple one of the big reasons why the tech sector slumped big time the past two sessions. the worst two session sell-off in the tech sector since last year. a lot of that is profit-taking. companies like apple, facebook, google and netflix have all seen shares hit record highs in 2017 and even with a two-day sell-off the nasdaq is still up 17% since the beginning of the year. apple has been hit by other concerns on the iphone 8 that's coming up this fall. but the tech sector is rebounding this morning. the market is going up. this as fed starts a two-day
